In my humble opinion, the reason why LAGS has decided to start a new project because while developing HTA, LAGS is facing a burnout issue. When the new project, Lustful Spirit Hunt has finished its latest update in around October, LAGS will continue developing HTA again.

This game does support controllers. I have tested with controllers that have layout like XBox controller. You can try demo and see if it works for you.
Syahata's bad day is as close as you could get to HTA, other than that? Not much- I've been trying to find those games myself.
Syahata just got an update like a month ago and it's quite simmilar. It's a variation of a zombie apocalypse game, but there's a lot of different enemies and after completing the game you get gallery which is nice. Highly reccomended.
Another game could possibly be parasite in city, but it's not on itch and I just haven't felt so adventurous to download it, but some people vocally praise it, so it could be worth a shot.
Then I could probably find some other games, but they're mostly unfinished and abandoned.

do you ever plan on hiring help with creating your games? you have master class ideas but I feel we will never see some of them due to the limits of being a solo artist.
Hiring professionals for hgames development is not feasible, since programmers and artists aren't minimum wage workers.
The average programmer's salary in US is 5000 USD per month, same goes to professional animators as well.
So far the sales of the game, also put piracy into account, just isn't good enough to afford professionals in the development team for the long run.
Furthermore, it's extremely hard to attract professionals to join hgame development, since having a hgame project in their portfolio just straight up reduce their chances to get hired in other large businesses. So even if they joined the development team, their loyalty and discipline tend to be extremely low.
That's the truth, but damn... it hurts. The only thing we have is hope, but it's a thin ice. I occasionally see some bigger budget projects (I have carnal instinct in mind), so maybe it gets better, but at this point, you're absolutely right, what a shame
thats kinda hard, if the dev decides to do as you said, the other game will be left in an undeveloped state causing the players to bother the devs to fix... so i guess the dev focusing on LSH is a better option

Why? Nothing is free in this world,and this game is cheap af tbh,for the quality you get,like not pixel art but full rendered 2d and static cg too,HQ ones. I am a fan of pixel art too,but here the full 2d quality is better. And he works alone most of the time,and have to work too,you know....cause games like this dont bring to much support financially talking. He works on many projects....Im sad that hailey got like 1 year delay due to the new game development but still,it is not easy to take smth that was already done and remake it,from 0. And he plan to rework from 0 the other 2 older games,college brawl and SurVive. So.....if you want quality,pay a little

Town of magic is also an amazing game with the whole storyline with different creatures that you can fight .
It has a whole storyline and is an absolute banger of a game with different s*x scenes of many monsters

Considering the amount of content that needs to be processed, I would say it takes at least months before HTA will be updated.
Of course, dev unfortunately has put themselves into a sticky situation where they need to develop two games at the same time.
But once LSH has finished its update, dev will go back to updating HTA again.
Why not give each game its time, for example, one update there and then an update here and then there, and life goes on.

There are more animations planned, but so far dev needs time to properly implement it.
Dev is working on this game alone, coding, animating, storywiting, bugfixing and etc. So it takes time.
